The Right Place Receives First Federal Grant

The Right Place in Anniston has received their first federal funded grant from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration. The Right Place is a non-profit organization that operates housing facilities and programs for homeless and low-income people in Calhoun County and surrounding areas.

The federal grant will help provide training and awareness to agencies, first responders, churches along with any other group that may deal with homeless individuals who possibly have a mental illness. The grant will be given to The Right Place for three years in the amount of $125,000 each year. The organization’s director believes that it takes a village in order to help people and families in these situations.

The Right Place will receive funding to begin their training on October first. Floyd says the organization and partnering agencies are looking forward to learning news ways to better serve the community.
