JSU Receives Grant from FEMA

Jacksonville State University surely had a great homecoming week and to top it off, the university just received a multi-million dollar grant to help continue rebuilding its campus.

The university recently has been notified that it will receive a grant for more than $18 million from the US Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency.

On March 19th an EF-3 tornado ripped through parts of Jacksonville damaging homes, businesses, and the university’s campus. 50 out of the 70 buildings on campus suffered some sort of damage. Congress Mike Rogers is a JSU alumni and serves as a senior member on the House Homeland Security Committee who says he is thrilled to see that the federal government saw the critical need to invest in the university.
