Deputy Sheriffs Now Certified School Resource Officers

Three local sheriff deputy’s have received certification as School Resource Officers. Deputy Thomas Key, Deputy John Sentell, and Deputy Kasey West, underwent a 40 hour School Resource Officer training course at the University of Tennessee’s Law Enforcement Innovation Center.

According to Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver, the training consisted of how to properly work with and protect students, faculty, and administration personnel. The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office now has four professionally certified School Resource Officers.
