Gun Scare at Piedmont High School During Marching Band Festival

Tuesday, October 16, 2018

Parents, students, and spectators attending the Chief Ladiga Marching Band Festival over the weekend were frightened over reports of an active shooter during the festival. According to the Piedmont Police Department, a gun that was brought onto Piedmont High School grounds was actually a plastic toy gun carried by a child that was attending the festival.

Officials spoke with the child and a spokesman for the Piedmont Police Department could not release any information on if the child has or will receive disciplinary action. After the gun threat was ruled a false alarm, the festival was able to continue as planned.
