High School Football Awards - Week 7


After an action-packed Friday night of football, the awards are in from week seven of the high school football season:

KFC-Pigskin Roundup Team of the Week: Southside Panthers The Panthers notched a huge region victory over Alexandria 21-14 at home. The win elevated Southside to third place in the region behind Etowah and Boaz at 3-1 in Class 5A Region 6. The Panthers will face the Pirates on Friday night. For their big win, the entire team and coaching staff will get the famous team of the week meal from KFC as well as the team of the week t-shirts.

Wiseguys Pizza Player of the Week: Jackson Cox, Westbrook Christian QB The senior quarterback recorded 178 total yards and three touchdowns in the Warriors' 48-0 victory over Gaston. Cox went 7 of 9 for 106 yards and a touchdown and added 72 yards on the ground and another two scores. Cox and the Warriors improved to 4-3 on the season with a region game against Woodland on Friday night. As the Player of the Week, Cox will receive a free large pizza from Wiseguys Pizza.
