The Agency for Substance Abuse Prevention is bringing awareness to the opioid issue we have in the state by hosting an annual Prescription Drug Take Back Drop Off event. This past April, the agency collected more than 380 pounds of unwanted prescription drugs.
This drop off event is held frequently in order to remove expired or unwanted drugs from homes so they won’t end up in places like our water system or in the hands of a child. Prevention Specialist Britney Brown says the disposal process is very simple.
Brown also says there will be three drop off locations throughout Calhoun County this Saturday, from 10am until 2pm.
The Walgreens in Jacksonville and Anniston along with the CVS in Oxford are the three locations you can bring you expired or unwanted prescriptions to for them to be properly disposed.
