Under Age Under Arrest Campaign

The Alabama Beverage Control Board has launched a statewide campaign educating students on the dangerous of underage drinking and the consequences surrounding it. A local Middle School was among the first on their radar. ABC Board members paid a visit to White Plains Middle School earlier today to inform students about underage drinking being a big issue nationwide and within the state.

Roughly 5,000 people a year who are under 21 die as a result of underage drinking. This includes driving under the influence, alcohol poisoning and more. This program also educates students on the lives ruined by them choosing to drink illegally. ABC believes it’s important for minors to know the consequences behind underage drinking.

The students also sat through a presentation given by ABC that explains what exactly alcohol does to a young developing body. White Plains Middle School Principal Courtney Wilburn says she recommends this presentation and website to all educators and parents.
