Honoring Councilman Robert Echols Jr.

The City of Gadsden held their annual council meeting earlier today, which happened to be the last council meeting for a member who has served since October of 1986. The Family Success Center of Etowah County along with other organizations hosted a ceremony honoring the retirement of the county’s district four council member, Robert Echols Jr.

Echols graduated from Gadsden High School, and attended the University of Alabama-Gadsden Center before becoming the Executive Vice President of Life Insurance Company of Alabama. Councilman Echols also has a long list of affiliations with other companies and organizations such as the Water Works and Sewer Board, The Gadsden-Etowah Chamber of Commerce, and the Downtown Action Council. Echols’ involvement within the community spans well over 32 years, and he says he’s enjoyed every minute of it.

Echols also shared how appreciative he was at the amount of people that showed up to honor him for all that he’s contributed to the City of Gadsden and that he will miss the interaction with the community the most.
