Know Your Amendments - Amendment Four
With Election Day less day six days away, it’s important that you know what amendments will be on the back on your ballots. These four amendments require voters to vote either yay or nay. Today we focus on Amendment Four, which changes the requirement for special elections every time a member of the Alabama House or Senate leaves office.
If the amendment passes, the governor will not be forced to call a special election if there is less than a year left in a four year term. Instead, those vacancies would be filled during the next regularly scheduled election.
