Attorney General Jeff Sessions Resigns
Attorney General Jeff Sessions turns in his resignation letter earlier today and says it’s at the President's request. The former Alabama Senator resigns after enduring more than a year of personal attacks from President Donald Trump. The personal attacks formed because of session’s conflict of interest between the President’s political campaign and Russia.
In Sessions’ resignation letter, he expresses what an honor it was to serve his country and thanks the President for the opportunity to do so. In a tweet shortly after the resignation was made public, President Trump says he will appoint former United States Attorney and Sessions’ Chief of Staff, Matthew Whitaker, as acting Attorney General.
