Jazz Festival Hosted by Gadsden State

Gadsden State Community College hosted its second annual Jazz Festival. Local bands performed as well as three guest artists whose talents have been heard all over the world. The event was hosted by the Division of Fine Arts and Music Department that featured New Orleans Percussionist Jason Marsalis, New York Trumpet player Bria Skonberg, and New Orleans Trombonist Jeffrey Miller. Students also got the opportunity to perform in front of the three musicians.

The professionals also held a clinic for the students so they could learn valuable instructions. Lastly, a final concert from the students and professionals was performed to conclude the festival for the community to enjoy. Music Director Doctor Matt Leder says he has some of the best jazz musicians as students and it was an honor to have musical experts willing to teach clinics and perform for the community.
