JSU Hosts Workshop to Educate About Addiction and Recovery

Jacksonville State University’s Continuing Education and Outreach Department held a workshop, at its McClellan Center, to help people understand the progression of addiction and recovery. Licensed social workers, nurses, teachers and concerned parents were among some of the people that participated in the HOPE Workshop.

The workshop was created to educate people on the physical, emotional, social and spiritual dimensions of addiction and recovery. Participants were also made aware of the 12-step recovery process and why it is necessary for a successful outcome. Addiction Counselor Robby Keeble says it’s extremely important for professionals to be able to identify the proper treatment for someone battling addiction.

Keeble encourages anyone who is battling or knows someone who is battling with addiction or the recovery process to contact the local health centers to get the proper help and care.
