Anniston City Hall Relocation Tour

Earlier today in Anniston, council members spent the day touring different facilities with hopes of soon relocating City Hall. The former City Hall building is scheduled to be torn down so that the new federal courthouse can be built on the property. Members toured several buildings including the Anniston Star, BBVA Compass building, Hillyer Robinson Business Park and more in an effort to find the right building that will suit all their needs until they are able to move into the former federal courthouse once the new one is built.

A major factor in determining what building will be chosen is also how much money the city will have to spend on the building and moving things from one location to another. Mayor Jack Draper says although he would like for the city hall to remain downtown, it’s about what’s best for the community and time is certainly of the essence on making a decision.

Mayor Draper also says they have a big task ahead of them but the council is continuing to keep an open mind on all the buildings.
