Rematch: Oxford Preps For Clay-Chalkville in Third Round

The third round of the high school football playoffs get underway on Black Friday. Eight area teams are still alive in the quarterfinal round including the Oxford Yellow Jackets in Class 6A. Oxford is one of few teams around the state that will get another crack against a region opponent. They will face Clay-Chalkville who handed them one of their two losses on the season, but they’re not playing up the revenge factor.

Since the October 19th loss to the Cougars, Oxford has been on fire. The Jackets are riding a four game winning streak and the offense is averaging 48.2 points per game. In the playoffs, Oxford has outscored its opponents 91-14 through the first two rounds (Hazel Green & Decatur).
