The largest transit bus and motor coach manufacturer in the country has completed its multi-million dollar renovation and expansion right here in Anniston. Earlier today New Flyer Industries opened up an additional 76,000 square feet of space totaling $25 million. The advanced facility will now have the capacity to complete the production of battery-electric buses that includes part fabrication, centralizes the welding process and has the first dine-in cafeteria to accommodate all 750 employees unlike other manufacturers in the county.
There is now an open office area concept where all the offices within the building were consolidated in an effort to improve communication and the quality of the working environment. New Flyer President Wayne Joseph says the company has come a long way from when it initially started. Alabama Senator Doug Jones is excited for the future of New Flyer and hopes the rest of the state will soon jump on board with more technology upgrades that are good for our environment.
Late last year, New Flyer announced the opening of their Vehicle Innovation Center, also in Anniston, which is America’s first and only innovation lab dedicated to advancing bus and coach technology in the electric and autonomous space.
