Free Weather Radios to be Offered to Elderly in Cherokee County

The Cherokee County Emergency Management Agency will soon offer free weather radios to the elderly or people who do not have reliable landlines and strong cell phone service from their homes. The radios will allow you to get regular weather updates and warnings at no cost.

EMA Director Shawn Rogers says that if you do have reliable phone services the EMA can sign you up to receive Code Red alerts. For both services there will be a short application process to make sure you qualify. For more information, contact the Cherokee County EMA’s Office.
