Toy Drive at Anniston Police Department

The most wonderful time of the year has truly touched a lot of hearts within the community. The Anniston Police Department has played a major part in encouraging everyone to give a little this holiday season with their Toy Drive. The Anniston Police Department’s Street Crimes Unit spends a lot of time in city streets. They’re able to see the need first hand for the youth.

Children who often don’t have extracurricular activities to do after school or on the weekends are more likely to get involved in the wrong activities. Street Crimes Unit Officer Mike Pinto shares the story with TV24 of how this Toy Drive was thought of when Police Sergeant Chris Leach was on duty.

Since then, the department has been donating and accepting new, unwrapped toys from the public until December 14th. Officer Pinto says helping children stay on the right path makes his job worth wild. After all the toys are collected, Officer Pinto says they will be given to the Toys for Tots Foundation in order from them to be distributed throughout the community.
