Central Clay County Boys Top Saks In Matinee Contest

Shamari Simmons (who claimed the 5A football state championship MVP one week ago) led Central Clay County with 15 points in a 60-49 win over Saks. The Saks High School gym was packed with kids who enjoyed the afternoon tipoff against the Vols. Jordan Cooper led the Wildcats with 13 points. Dewayne Garrett chipped in with 10 for the Vols and Paul Garrett added 9. It marked Central Clay County's first game of the season (after just three practices) because the long football season cut into the start of the scheduled basketball campaign.
