Government Facing Possible Shutdown Friday
The United States government could possibly shut down at midnight on Friday if there is no resolution between the White House and Congress. Associated Press reports that the White House is insisting the Congress funds $5 billion to go towards building a wall along the US Mexico border.
Democratic Congressional leaders proposed no more than $1.6 billion outlined in a bipartisan Senate bill to go towards fencing upgrades and other border security, not the construction of a wall. The Director of Strategic Communications for the White House says President Donald Trump has his mind set on receiving the billions of dollars for the border wall.
President Trump says he’s willing to do what’s necessary to stop the ongoing crisis of illegal immigration.
