Governor Kay Ivey recently announced that the Cherokee County Parks and Recreation Board would be receiving a grant totaling nearly $100,000. WEIS Radio reports that the money will be used to help upgrade campsites at Cherokee Rock Village.
The park will also add eco-friendly garbage cans to keep wildlife out of them while also assuring that the grounds stay clean for park guests. The grant will only cover 50% of the upgrades, leaving the remainder of the cost coming from the Cherokee County Commission. The park’s upgrades are expected to be completed by spring of 2019.
