The White House plans to make it a requirement for people who receive food assistance must have jobs. The Department of Agriculture proposed a rule expanding work requirements for those in the Food Stamp Program.

The proposal states that if you are not working or participating in training programs 20 hours a week, SNAP recipients can only get benefits for three months out of every 36 month period. But, states will be able to waive that requirement for areas where unemployment is at least 10%.
