The Christmas holiday holds a different meaning this year to the Southside community as a tree was put up outside city hall to honor someone special. Casie Tensely was a local school teacher who died from Leukemia. This Christmas tree stands in her memory. Tensley planted the tree with her mother eight years ago and enjoyed watching the tree grow every year.
Tensely’s family owns the Old Dairy Christmas Tree Farm in the Ball Play area where city leaders went looking for a Christmas tree. Her family says she inspired them to open the farm. Mayor Wall Burns says he had no idea that looking for a Christmas tree would turn into all that it did but the city is honored to pay tribute to Tensley.
