Alabama Power Awarded for Outstanding Efforts in March 19th Tornado

Alabama Power was presented with an award for their outstanding efforts during the recent severe weather conditions and other natural disasters. The Edison Electric Institute presented Alabama Power with the Emergency Recovery Award for its power restoration efforts after the March 19th tornado in Jacksonville.

There were more than 31,000 service outages and Alabama Power crews restored service in Jacksonville, Southside, Heflin, and Ashville within two-and-a-half days of the storm.

In June of last year, a derecho wind event featured thunderstorms that resulted in wind damage nearly 400 miles long. More than 230,000 service outages were fully repaired three days after the storm.
