JSU Public Relations Recognized for Communication and Leadership

All eyes have been on Jacksonville State University after the tornado in March of last year destroyed much of its campus. While the university is still rebuilding, several employees have been awarded for their communication and leadership skills.

The council for the Advancement and Support of Education will host an awards ceremony celebration in Atlanta next month to honor employees from the university’s Public Relations Department. Those being honored will be Public Relations Director Buffy Lockette, Social Media Specialist Sydney Jones, Lead Interactive Designer Sebastian Mendez, Web Content Specialist Chris Newsome and University Photographer Matthew Reynolds.

The JSU employees will all be receiving different awards from the council. One of the highest awards is the Grand Awards for Communication and Marketing. Lockette and Jones will be receiving this award and they share why they believe the university is coming back stronger than ever.

Lockette also says that all the awards being received qualifies JSU to be considered for the national platinum award in communications and marketing that will be announced by the council in June.
