Calhoun County Sheriff Wade Swears into Office

Calhoun County Sheriff Matthew Wade has taken his oath of office for his first full term. Family, friends, colleagues, and Calhoun County Deputies attended today’s swearing in ceremony in Oxford. Sheriff Wade has been with the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department since 1996 working as a correctional officer through an employment program between former Sheriff Larry Amerson and JSU.

Through the years, Sheriff Wade worked his way up the rankings until his appointment to Sheriff in 2016 after Amerson retired. Wade says he is honored to be leading courageous deputies and is truly looking forward to serving his first full term.

During the ceremony, Sheriff Wade also recognized his chief deputies and people within the community for showing their support.
