JCOC Offering Food Assistance for Government Shutdown Victims


The government shutdown continues and still an agreement is nowhere in sight. But one local outreach center is doing everything they can to assist families affected by this shutdown. The Jacksonville Christian Outreach Center is offering food and other assistance to people affected by the partial government shutdown. The outreach center is open Monday through Thursday from 10am until 2pm. Those in need of assistance are asked to bring a copy of your furlough letter.

Federal workers with school-aged children attending Jacksonville City Schools may now qualify for free or reduced meals. The forms are have been provided by the Child Nutrition Director and are available at the outreach center. Presbyterian churches in the Jacksonville area are also supporting and other churches are welcome to assist as well. For more information you can call 256-435-1891.
