Cedartown, Georgia Man Arrested in Cherokee County with Several Theft Charges

A man from Cedartown, Georgia is behind bars in Cherokee county on several charges that include third degree burglary. Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver reports that 74-year-old Roy Overby was spotted taking items from a property owner in the Ellisville community.

 

Overby then tried to run from police in a Ford pickup truck on Highway 411 until truck drivers forced him to stop near the state line. He was transported to the Cherokee County Detention Center and charged with third degree Theft of Property, third degree Burglary, and Attempting to Elude.

 

During his arrest, officers discovered that Overby also has several warrants in Georgia for theft and burglary. His bond is set at $7,500.
