FDA Food Inspections Halted Amidst Government Shutdown

Friday, January 18, 2019

The Federal Drug Administration stopped some routine food safety inspections when the government shutdown began three weeks ago. There are some foods you should try and stay away from in the time-being. Pre-packaged fresh foods like sandwiches and salads. It’s better to stick to things you have control over cooking at home.

When grocery shopping, brand names you know and trust should only be on your list. Make sure to properly wash and rinse produce daily. During the shutdown, it’s important that you be diligent if you’re pregnant, have children or a compromised immune system.
