The Wetumpka community is looking ahead to begin rebuilding their city after a tornado cause serious damage over the weekend. Multiple homes and buildings were completely destroyed when the tornado stuck Central Alabama.
Although no deaths have been reported, several people did suffer minor injuries. The city’s First Baptist Church was completely demolished as well much of the historic Presbyterian Church. Although most of Wetumpka’s is without power, Mayor Jerry Willis says it’s time now to pick up the pieces.
Mayor Willis also says that until power is fully restored and buildings are covered, the city’s downtown area is under curfew.
