The expected snow day didn’t halt United Way of Etowah County from hosting its non-profit board training for new members. And training is still available for anyone who wants to learn what it takes to be a non-profit board member Several times throughout the year. United Way of Etowah County hosts training classes to inform people what it means to be on the board of directors for a non-profit organization.
Members have certain legal responsibilities in order to successfully run the organization. In Etowah County, there are more than 300 non-profits and 165 churches that are all governed by boards of directors. Executive Director Joanne Hightower says United Way is an organization that strives to support and educate the community.
