Changes are underway at Cheaha State Park as the campgrounds are undergoing a $1.1 million improvement project. Cheaha State Park has been around for more than 80 years. During that time, millions of campers have visited the historic campgrounds sites on the upper and lower grounds.
Today, construction works are improving the lower campground area. Assistant Superintendent Kyle Kinman says he’s excited to finally begin the improvement process and explains why thousands of campers love to visit every year.
Since the lake at Cheaha is one of the most beloved sites, Kinman says they wanted to improve the lower campgrounds before beginning on the upper. Kinman hopes to have the lower grounds finished by the end of the month and for the entire improvements project to be completed before the Talladega race weekend.
