FDA Issues Warning Regarding Breast Implants Linked to Rare Cancer


The Food and Drug Administration has issued a warning regarding to a rare and deadly cancer linked to breast implants. The FDA reports that out of the more than 450 women in the US who have been diagnosed with Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma, nine of them have died.

Nearly 11 million women worldwide have breast implants. But the implants are not all created equally. Implants with textured surfaces are more closely linked to the cancer than those with smooth surfaces.

The FDA sent letters to health care providers to help diagnose the disease early.
