A former cotton mill in Jacksonville may soon be transformed into something the entire city can be proud of. Councilwoman Sandra Sudduth tells TV24 that during a recent city council meeting, a discussion about possibly transforming the former Union Yarn Mill buildings into apartments. Sudduth adds that a company based in Atlanta called Camden Partners, suggested the idea to the city council.
The cotton mill closed its doors in 2001 after more than 90 years of business. Although no final decisions or deadlines have been made, Councilman Jimmy Harrell says the Mayor and council are working diligently to come to an agreement that will ultimately revitalize this historic area.
