President Trump Officially Declares National Emergency

President Trump has officially declared a National Emergency. The president signed a compromised funding bill that will prevent the government from shutting down again. However, the bill still doesn’t cover the necessary requirements to have a more than 200 mile cement wall built along the US Mexico border.

The move to declare a National Emergency is an attempt to redirect nearly six billion dollars in federal funds for the construction of the wall. The declaration is almost certainly going to be challenged by democrats in court but President Trump believes the country is being invaded and this is the solution.

According to Federal data, officials captured nearly 400,000 people along the border during the 2018 fiscal year. Alabama Representative Mike Rogers says he stands by President Trump’s decision. He believes it’s the President’s job to keep America safe from threats to our nation.
