The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a Flood Warning for the Coosa River and Weiss Dam and Logan Martin Dam. This warning affects Cherokee, Calhoun, Coosa, Etowah, Shelby, Saint Clair, Talladega, Chilton, and Elmore counties.

Pictures show the current conditions at Weiss Lake. Lake levels are expected to rise above flood stage by Saturday evening and continue to rise near 567 feet early Sunday according to WEIS Radio. The Coosa River at Gadsden is currently at 510 feet. Flood stage begins at 511 feet.

A photo of Choccolocco Park’s walking track was taken earlier today. A large part of the track is now closed due to its flooded conditions. Visitors are still welcomed to use other areas of the park.
