As we mentioned, community members and leaders in the Southside are beginning to take matters into their own hands to fix traffic congestion issues in the area. And it seems as though the Department of Transportation has started taking the necessary steps to try and fix some of those issues.
According to the Southside Police Department, starting Monday, February 25th, the Department of Transportation will begin monitoring morning traffic on Highway 77 between Pilgrims Rest Road and the bridge. The department wants to attempt to install a red light to help better move traffic. During the monitoring, police will be moving traffic and not blocking lanes. The City of Southside ask for driver’s patience while the traffic study is being conducted.
