Disaster Relief Funds and Medical Teams Assisting with Recovery in Lee County

Wednesday, March 6, 2019

As we mentioned a moment ago, recovery efforts are underway in Lee County after the EF-4 tornado touched down in the area, killing 23 people and injuring dozens more. East Alabama Medical Center Opelika treated more than 50 patients as a result of the tornado.

The medical center has also created a disaster relief fund through its foundation. The Lee County Disaster Relief Fund will help meet long-term disaster relief needs specifically in Lee County. To donate to this fund, you can visit East Alabama Medical Center’s Facebook page, or visit the website eamcfoundation8686.thankyou4caring.org.

In a statement released on behalf of LifeSouth, local hospitals have the blood to treat patients who are victims of the recent tornado, but, blood donors are necessary and welcome every day. Donors must be at least 17 years of age or 16 with parental permission. To find a blood drive near you, visit www.LifeSouth.org.
