Fake Phone Calls Claiming to be From FBI

Wednesday, March 6, 2019

The Jacksonville Police Department has had several cases of people receiving phone calls from someone claiming to be with the Federal Bureau of Investigations. The FBI do not conduct interviews over the phone, and so these calls are not to be trusted.

There have also been reports of people receiving fake checks in the mail. Do not accept substantial checks through the mail from people you don’t know, or that you aren’t expecting. These checks are almost always fraudulent, and will get you in trouble if you try to cash them in.

If you are ever in doubt, do not hesitate to contact your local police department and they will help to answer any questions you might have.
