This is some of what Senator Doug Jones saw when touring parts of Lee County earlier today. The catastrophic tornado that touched down in Alabama this past Sunday completely destroyed homes and took nearly two dozen lives.
To add to the devastation, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office reported several cases of unauthorized people being in the area and taking things that don’t belong to them. Despite the amount of work ahead, Senator Jones says that residents of Lee County are still resilient.
Governor Kay Ivey spent the day on Wednesday touring areas hit by the EF-4 tornado. She has ordered all flags across the state to be flown at half-staff until sunset on Sunday, and says it’s now time to enter recovery and repair mode.
