Gadsden Railroad Crossing Seeing Reconstruction After Complaints

After dozens of complaints about vehicle damage, a railroad crossing in Gadsden will soon get reconstruction. The City of Gadsden along with ALDOT and others have created a temporary solution to improve the railroad crossing near the Goodyear Plant.

According to Public Affairs Coordinator Eric Wright, the temporary solution will involve removing and replacing the asphalt outside of and between the rails. However, the long term solution will require a significant amount of engineering and design of poured concrete and further closures.

Wright also says this is a complex issue since the crossing is a state highway and railroad crossing. The temporary repairs will begin once the weather is constantly clear.
