A building that was once used for educating students and daycare services could possibly reopen with a new profound purpose. This building was formerly known as the Eastwood School in Jacksonville until school’s integrated in 1968.
Beginning in 1970, it was used as a daycare facility until 2011. Community Committee members have several ideas of what to turn the building into to avoid it from being torn down. Those ideas include an after-school tutoring facility, a community center, or a Head Start Center.
The city council will now work with the committee on deciding how the building will be used.
