LifeSouth Partnering with Anniston Islamic Center to Aid 2-year-old Cancer Patient

LifeSouth is partnering with the Anniston Islamic Center to find the correct blood type to aid a two-year-old cancer patient. The two-year-old patient has a particularly uncommon blood type, and so potential donors will likely need to be of Pakistani, Indian or Iranian descent, and have a blood type O or A.

With blood transfusions, it is very important to ensure that the blood type matches the patient’s, in order to avoid complications. The blood drive will be held on Friday, March 15 from 9am until 3:30pm, at the Anniston Islamic Center. Donors must be at least 17 or 16 with parental permission. A photo ID is needed.
