Deputy Struck by Drunk Driver

A deputy is recovering from his injuries after he was struck by a drunk driver over the weekend. Calhoun County Sheriff Mathew Wade says since he’s been in office he’s had two deputies struck by drunk drivers. Which is two too many.

Thankfully, the deputy hit was not seriously injured. The accident occurred within Anniston city limits. The deputy was on routine patrol in the Lenlock area. The drunk driver was in the wrong lane of traffic when she struck the deputy. Sheriff Wade says there is absolutely no excuse for drinking and driving.

The Anniston Police Department charged 27-year-old Ladreka Marks of Weaver with Driver Under the Influence. As authorities continue to investigate, more charges could be added. Marks is being held in the Calhoun County Jail. No bond amount has yet been set.
