Bill Advances to Allow Alabamians to Help Fund Border Wall with Tax Refund

The state Senate recently advanced a bill that would allow Alabamians to donate part of their state income tax refunds to help build a wall along the US Mexico border. The Associated Press reports that Senator Pro Tem Del Marsh sponsored the proposal, allowing residents to check a box on their state income tax form to donate to “We Build the Wall Incorporated.”

Last month, President Donald Trump declared a national emergency with hopes of getting the money necessary to fund the wall. The bill will now move to the state House of Representatives.
