Jacksonville State University has a new member appointed to its Board of Trustees. Governor Kay Ivey recently appointed Tony Smoke to fill the seat vacated by Ronnie Smith, who announced his retirement in February.
Smoke will serve as the representative from the Third Congressional District. The new Board of Trustees member is also the Vice President of Alabama Power’s Eastern Division in addition to serving as a board member for several organizations including the Calhoun County Chamber, the Economic Development Council, and the Anniston Museum of Natural History.
Smoke says he is honored to have been appointed to serve a university full of tradition, diversity, and a rich history. He will attend his first meeting as a trustee on April 16th.
