Pledge of Allegiance Bill

A bill has been filed to make it a requirement that every school day starts with the Pledge of Allegiance. The bill was filed by Alabama House Majority Leader, Nathaniel Ledbetter after discovering that some schools and classrooms in the state have dropped the Pledge as part of their daily routine. That’s according to WEIS Radio.

Although the state Board of Education does not have the capability to enforce the Pledge legally, Ledbetter says this bill would not require students to stand for or recite the words to the Pledge. The Pledge of Allegiance bill will be taken up for review by the Alabama House Education Policy Committee on Wednesday.
