Sensory Room Created at DeArmanville Elementary School

Students at a local elementary school will soon have a safe space to help calm and focus themselves so they can be better prepared for learning and interacting with others. The Alabama Power Service Organization has partnered with Webb Concrete and Building Materials to create a sensory classroom a DeArmanville Elementary School.

This room will serve as a therapeutic space for special needs students in pre-k through fourth grade. The sensory space will be equipped with special lighting, music, and other objects. Principal Amy Copeland says this room will also help teachers better educate their students.

Alabama Power and Webb Concrete each awarded the elementary school with $1,000 in order to create this room. Service Organization Volunteers with Alabama Power put together their ideas in order to begin bringing this room to life. Students are hopeful to begin using the sensory room before the week is out.
