Calhoun County's 20th Year Earth Day Celebration at Cane Creek Gardens

Fourth grade students across Calhoun County took the time to celebrate Earth Day today by enjoying some time outdoors. More than 500 students and volunteers participated in Earth Day Celebrations and Cane Creek Gardens earlier today.

As students spent time outdoors, they learned about things they should do to ensure Earth remains sustainable to live on. Some were taught about the different aspects of farming, maintaining water quality, in addition to water rescue and outdoor safety. Extension Coordinator David West believes it is important for everyone to learn as much about the outdoors as possible.

West says for the past 20 years, the county has helped educate 20,000 kids about the Earth and how to properly take care of it.
