Goodyear Workers May Be Eligible for Benefits
A petition filed on behalf of displaced workers from the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in Gadsden has concluded that workers could be eligible for benefits. The petition filed under the federal Trade Adjustment Assistance Reauthorization Act of 2015 may allow displaced workers to receive training, relocation assistance, and Health Coverage Tax Credit. These benefits will apply to workers who were engaged in activities related to the production of passenger vehicle and light truck tires under the Assistance Reauthorization Act.
According to the US Department of Labor, workers may have become unemployed because Goodyear is a supplier to a firm that produced and supplied directly to another firm for articles, services, or in the supply of services that were basis for particular certification.
The petition covers periods of unemployment occurring on or after March 26th, 2018 through April 18th, 2021. To find out more information, contact the Alabama Department of Labor or Career Center System.
