Parents in the Jacksonville Community were concerned for their child’s safety after receiving reports of a student allegedly bringing a weapon on the campus of Jacksonville High School. Although no weapon has been located, the investigation is still ongoing. According to Jacksonville Police Chief Marcus Wood, school resource officers and administrators immediately made contact with the student who was accused of bringing a gun on campus.
Assistance from the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office K-9 unit was requested as a precaution measure. A safety sweep of the school was conducted. No weapon was found and students were able to return to their regular schedule around 1:45 this afternoon. Jacksonville Police however, are still investigating this incident.
